Centralized Positioning for Stability
The Boundry system mounts your bikes right in the center of your truck between the front and rear axles, where the truck moves the least. From a physics standpoint, central placement minimizes the lever arm effect, reducing the forces that cause swaying and bouncing. In contrast, hitch-mounted racks, located at the vehicle's rear, are more susceptible to these destabilizing forces due to their extended position from the vehicle's center of gravity. This increased distance amplifies movements, leading to a less stable ride.
Increased Ground Clearance and Improved Departure Angle
By putting bikes in the bed, you remove several issues with other systems:
- Hitch racks protrude from a low point on the rear of the vehicle, which means the rack itself can easily drag when going through a ditch or obstacle. Even worse, rear wheels that hang down from the rack can hit the ground in these extreme circumstances and bounce the bike out of the rack and onto the ground.
- Though tailgate pads mean the bike is mostly in the bed, the front wheels are still hanging down off the back, and in deep ditches they can catch on the ground and eject bikes. Even if they don't eject, they can move around violently and scratch bikes up. New bike day doesn't sound bad though!
